La Paz political competition intensifies for 4T and PAN roles
Political competition is intensifying within the 4T coalition and the PAN for the municipal coordination and mayoral positions in La Paz, Baja California Sur. In the 4T coalition, several figures are vying for coordination roles, including Alfredo “Tano” Polanco, Saúl González, Jehú Vázquez, Abimael Ibarra, Omar Zavala, and Karina Olivas, as well as Green Party deputy Erick Iván Agúndez. The registration period for these municipal aspirations is set from October 8 to October 18, with state coordinator Manuel Cota stating that survey results will determine the final selections.
Simultaneously, the PAN is seeing movement toward the same municipal position, with candidates including Mario Rieke, Rigoberto Mares, Azucena Meza, and Lavinia Núñez.
Broader discussions regarding the composition of Morena's leadership have emerged, as reports highlight the inclusion of various political figures with past affiliations to opposition parties such as the PAN, PRI, and PRD. This trend of incorporating former members of rival parties into Morena's coordination roles has drawn criticism from some founding members of the party, who argue that these transitions contradict the party's core principles.
