Municipalities expand surveillance through new camera and technology deployments

Various municipalities and legislative bodies are implementing new surveillance technologies to enhance public safety and oversight.

In Argentina, the Chaco Legislature is considering a bill to mandate 24-hour audio and video surveillance in geriatric care centers to protect elderly residents. Meanwhile, La Plata is expanding its monitoring network by installing 1,300 new cameras and 120 kilometers of fiber optics, increasing its total capacity to 2,300 devices. In San Isidro, the municipality has completed a technological overhaul, deploying 300 kilometers of fiber optics to connect 2,600 high-definition cameras using artificial intelligence and advanced analytics.

In Mexico, Ramos Arizpe is adding 100 new cameras and mobile security booths to its strategic monitoring infrastructure. In Chile, the Municipality of Villa Alemana has approved the installation of smart poles in parks and plazas, which will feature 27 new cameras, panic buttons, and beacons, allowing residents to monitor public spaces via mobile devices.
