La Plata hosts event honoring Fidel Castro's legacy

An event held in La Plata, Argentina, honored the legacy of Cuban leader Fidel Castro to mark the centenary of his birth. Organized by the Central de los Trabajadores de Argentina (CTA), the gathering featured speakers discussing Castro’s historical impact, including his support for social justice causes in Africa and Palestine, and his medical internationalism.

Participants highlighted ongoing solidarity efforts between Argentina and Cuba. Representatives from the Casa de la Amistad Argentino-Cubana noted previous humanitarian successes, such as the shipment of over one million syringes to Cuba during the COVID-19 pandemic. Current initiatives include providing solar energy equipment to Cuban families with electro-dependent children. Leonardo Baster, Chargé d’Affaires of the Cuban Embassy, acknowledged these gestures of brotherhood while addressing the current challenges faced by the Cuban people.
