France lifts Livret A rate and electricity tariffs on 1 August 2026
Effective 1 August 2026 the French government is adjusting several key household costs. The Livret A savings rate rises from 1.5 % to 1.7 %, and the linked Livret de développement durable et solidaire (LDDS) is increased to the same level. The Livret d'épargne populaire (LEP) remains unchanged at 2.5 %.
The regulated electricity tariff (TRVE) is raised by an average of 2.5 %, adding roughly €26 per year to the bills of about 20 million French households. The increase stems from a higher network‑transport charge (TURPE) of 3.04 %, not from raw energy prices. Night‑time rates rise by 0.63 % and daytime rates by 3.73 %.
From 11 August 2026 unsolicited telemarketing calls are prohibited, with only pre‑contracted or consent‑based contacts allowed. In the same month, the back‑to‑school allocation for eligible families begins to be paid, ranging from €426.87 to €466.02 per child depending on age.
