France La Poste postal price hike
Entities: La Poste · Maud Bregeon · French government · Livret A · French households
Overview
In late July 2026, France’s state‑owned postal group La Poste announced that, from 1 January 2027, the average price of stamps and parcels will rise by about 6.73 %. The most notable change is a near‑10 % increase for the standard “Lettre verte,” which will go from €1.52 to €1.67, alongside modest adjustments to other domestic letter and parcel services.
A follow‑up report three days later reaffirmed the same tariff changes and placed them in a broader package of consumer‑price measures announced by the French government, including modest electricity tariff hikes and adjustments to savings‑account rates. La Poste justified the increase as necessary to maintain the quality of the universal postal service amid declining mail volumes and rising operating costs, under the oversight of regulator ARCEP.
