La Rioja (Argentina) launches winter tourism rebate program

The provincial government of La Rioja announced a new winter‑tourism incentive called “Previaje Riojano”. In a launch event in Buenos Aires, Secretary of Tourism José Rosa, Deputy Gabriela Pedrali and Sub‑Secretary Juan Contreras detailed the scheme. Tourists who book services with participating providers can receive a 50 % refund in the provincial currency “Chachos”, which must be spent locally on accommodation, dining, excursions and other tourism‑related businesses.

The programme aims to sustain demand during the 2026 winter season, retain tourist spending within the province and support local merchants, hotels, travel agencies, restaurants and wineries. It follows a 2025 edition that boosted visitor numbers, and the promotion will continue in key source markets such as Santa Fe, Córdoba and the capital. Officials stressed the importance of active public policies to monitor market trends and maintain employment in the tourism sector.
