La Rioja completes Monasterio de Yuso restoration and launches AI heritage initiative

The Government of La Rioja has completed major conservation and restoration works at the Monasterio de Yuso in San Millán de la Cogolla. The project involved an investment of approximately 2.85 million euros, funded through European Next Generation funds to modernize and preserve the region's cultural heritage.

The UNESCO World Heritage site, considered a significant monastic complex in Spain, underwent interventions to improve accessibility and ensure long-term maintenance. These efforts are part of a broader regional strategy to promote historical monuments and local tourism.

In a related development, the regional president, Gonzalo Capellán, inaugurated the AutorIA initiative. This project aims to integrate emerging technologies, such as artificial intelligence and data analysis, with the study and preservation of La Rioja's historical legacy. The initiative seeks to use digital tools to better organize information and improve access to cultural content for researchers and the public.
