La Réunion implements new economic attractiveness strategies
La Réunion is implementing new strategies to enhance its economic attractiveness and regional influence. The Regional Economic, Social and Environmental Council (CESER) has proposed a two-tier strategy to leverage the island's geostrategic assets, such as its legal stability and research ecosystem, to better compete within the Indian Ocean.
Complementing this, the Regional Council presented a roadmap focused on the 'New Economy' to attract investment, skills, and technology. The strategy aims to position La Réunion as a regional economic hub connecting Europe, Africa, and the Indian Ocean by targeting 11 key sectors.
Additionally, the Regional Permanent Commission has approved financial commitments for the 'LéspassClés' program, extending support to 14 communes from 2026 to 2028, with an initial 2026 budget of 626,666 euros for this initiative.
