La Son - Hoa Lien Expressway opens four lanes between Hue and Da Nang

The La Son - Hoa Lien Expressway, connecting Hue and Da Nang, has completed its first phase of expansion from two lanes to four. The 65km route now allows for regular traffic on the completed four-lane sections with a temporary maximum speed limit of 60 km/h.

While the expansion is operational, construction continues on additional components approved by the Ministry of Construction, including landslide treatment, rest stops, and intelligent transport systems (ITS). The project is expected to reach full official operation by the end of 2026.

Traffic restrictions remain in place during this transitional period. Passenger vehicles with nine or more seats and trucks with six or more axles are prohibited from using the expressway and must follow designated detours via National Highway 1 or Provincial Road 14B. At specific landslide-prone areas, the speed limit is further reduced to 30 km/h.
