La Spatolata Gelateria Wins Gambero Rosso Award, Highlighting Italy’s Artisan Ice‑Cream Scene

The Spatolata, a gelateria on Via Panciroli in Reggio Emilia, received the prestigious "2 Coni" award from Gambero Rosso for the second consecutive year. Owners Filippo and Nicole said the prize recognises their focus on high‑quality ingredients, traditional regional flavours and a social mission that employs young people with disabilities.

In nearby Rivalta, the La Carapina gelateria was honoured with a "1 cono" award, praised for inventive flavours such as erbazzone and its collaborations with local farms.

A separate guide lists the ten best artisan gelaterias in Florence, highlighting historic shops like Badiani and Vivoli alongside newer venues such as Gelateria della Passera and Sbrino. The guide stresses the use of natural, locally sourced ingredients and notes that former U.S. Speaker Nancy Pelosi once visited a Florentine shop.
