La Séptima television channel prepares for November 5 launch

The new television channel La Séptima, led by José Miguel Contreras and Javier Ruiz, is preparing for its official launch on November 5. Following its presentation at the FesTVal in Vitoria, the network is finalizing its lineup of presenters and programming.

Journalist Luján Argüelles has joined the project from Mediaset to host a weekend current affairs program. Argüelles expressed enthusiasm for the move, noting a desire to transition from recorded entertainment to live, topical broadcasting. Other confirmed figures include Héctor de Miguel, Alba Carrillo, Marta Márquez, and Noor Ben Yessef.

Editorial director Javier Ruiz addressed recent speculation regarding the hiring of Sara Santaolalla, clarifying that her recruitment was based on professional merit rather than her personal relationship with him. Ruiz also noted that the channel aims to move away from conventional 9:00 PM news formats, opting instead for a continuous flow of information through various programs to suit 21st-century viewing habits.
