La Séptima television channel prepares for November launch

La Séptima, a new generalist television channel founded by José Miguel Contreras, is preparing for its launch on November 5. The project aims to provide an alternative editorial perspective to the current media landscape, focusing on combating disinformation and providing context to news events.

Javier Ruiz, the project's editorial director, recently transitioned to the channel following his departure from RTVE. Ruiz addressed previous internal criticisms at the public broadcaster, describing his exit as a pact rather than a dismissal and noting the "lynchings" he faced from within the organization. He expressed a desire to fill an editorial void in the current market.

Héctor de Miguel, known as Quequé, has been selected as the face of the channel's comedy programming. De Miguel emphasized the role of humor as a "containment dike" against rising social tensions and political polarization, stating he is willing to face legal or personal challenges to maintain his comedic stance.
