Labor unions announce warning strikes in Bosnia and Serbia

Labor unions in Bosnia and Herzegovina and Serbia have announced warning strikes in response to administrative and management disputes.

In Una-Sana Canton, the Union of Secondary and Higher Education, Upbringing, Science, and Culture has scheduled a one-hour warning strike for September 1. The union claims the government failed to meet deadlines for updating regulations regarding teacher evaluations, career advancement, and professional titles. Additionally, the union highlighted significant wage disparities, noting that high school teachers with specific qualifications earn substantially less than employees in other public institutions with lower educational levels.

In Serbia, the BioSens Institute union has called for a warning strike on August 28. The protest aims to halt the dismissal of acting director Snežana Pajović and the appointment of Dušanka Cvijanović. The union alleges that the proposed leadership changes represent an attempt to destabilize the institute and claims that the current Board of Directors has engaged in misconduct, including the misuse of official positions and unauthorized handling of sensitive data related to European Commission projects.
