Ladakh Bench of High Court inaugurated by CJI Surya Kant

Chief Justice of India Surya Kant has inaugurated the newly established Ladakh Bench of the High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh in Melongthang, Leh. The new bench aims to improve access to justice for residents of the Union Territory, particularly those in remote and high-altitude areas, by reducing the need to travel to Srinagar or Jammu for legal proceedings.

During the ceremony, the Chief Justice also launched several digital and environmental initiatives. These include an e-Filing Portal and a Document Management System (DMS) to allow for electronic case filing and digital record management, as well as an Online Recruitment Portal for the High Court. Additionally, the Chief Justice virtually inaugurated the ‘Green Wall’ initiative, a project focused on environmental conservation and ecological sustainability in the region.
