Lafayette weather forecast predicts heat followed by heavy rain

Lafayette, Louisiana, is expected to experience a hot start to the week with temperatures in the low 90s and mostly dry conditions through Wednesday. A shift in weather patterns is anticipated by Thursday as moisture from Hurricane Polo moves into South Louisiana.

Rain chances are forecasted to increase to 60 percent on Thursday, peaking at 70 percent on Friday, and remaining at 60 percent on Saturday. Forecasters warn that the primary concerns are heavy downpours and localized street flooding rather than severe weather. This timing may impact University of Louisiana at Lafayette homecoming activities and the scheduled Arkansas State game on Saturday.

No significant cold fronts are expected for at least two weeks, and typical fall weather may not arrive until mid-October. While tropical systems are being monitored, there is currently no direct threat to the Acadiana region from Tropical Depression Fay or other Gulf systems.
