Lagos building collapse kills one during manual demolition

A two-storey building collapsed during manual demolition in the Aboru area of Alimosho, Lagos, on Thursday morning. The incident occurred at approximately 12:56 am at a property on Governors Road.

Emergency responders from the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, and the Lagos State Ambulance Service (LASAMBUS) conducted a coordinated search and rescue operation. Rescuers successfully extricated two adult males from the rubble, who received first aid before being transported to a nearby medical facility.

Tragically, one adult male was recovered dead from beneath the collapsed structure. Following the incident, LASEMA officials warned developers and property owners against bypassing safety protocols and urged the use of certified professionals for all construction and demolition activities.
