Building collapses during demolition in Nigeria

Overview

Fatalities have been reported during demolition activities in different Nigerian states.

In Lagos, a two-storey building collapsed during manual demolition in the Aboru area of Alimosho. The incident resulted in the death of one adult male, while two others were rescued and transported to a medical facility. Following the event, the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) advised property owners to use certified professionals and adhere to safety protocols.

In Anambra State, a 25-year-old worker died when a section of an old structure caved in during demolition work in Otolo-Nnewi. Local police have cordoned off the area and initiated an investigation, with the Commissioner of Police ordering a probe to determine responsibility for the collapse.
