Lagos Governor outlines food security and cybersecurity initiatives
Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has issued calls for improved food security and heightened cybersecurity awareness within the state.
Addressing the 2026 World Food Day Celebration, the Governor emphasized the need for a resilient food system to support Lagos's population of over 22 million. The state's Five-Year Agricultural and Food Systems Roadmap aims to increase food self-sufficiency from 20% to 40%. This strategy involves a three-tier structure consisting of a central food security and logistics hub, mid-level agro-produce hubs, and last-mile distribution networks.
In a separate initiative marking Cybersecurity Awareness Month, the Governor warned residents about the risks of cybercrime. The state government is launching public education campaigns in English, Yoruba, and Pidgin to teach citizens how to recognize phishing, use strong passwords, and enable multi-factor authentication. The campaign is being coordinated through the Ministry of Innovation, Science and Technology and the state’s Cybersecurity Advisory Board.
