Lagos Governor requests reordering of 2026 state budget

Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has requested the Lagos State House of Assembly to reorder the 2026 “Budget of Shared Prosperity.” The request aims to redirect resources toward priority areas following a recorded budget performance of approximately 69 per cent.

During legislative debates, lawmakers emphasized the need to reallocate funds to projects nearing completion and to address critical environmental issues, such as drainage and flood control. The House Speaker, Mudashiru Obasa, has referred the request to the Committee on Economic Planning and Budget for further consideration.
