Lagos-Ibadan Expressway crash kills four people
Four men were killed and one person was injured in a fatal vehicle collision on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway near Straight Gate, Ipara Remo, in Ogun State. The accident occurred at approximately 4:00 a.m. on Wednesday and involved a blue Mitsubishi Cabstar and an ash-colored HOWO truck.
Preliminary investigations by the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Ogun State Sector Command indicate that the crash was caused by speeding and improper overtaking. The driver of the Mitsubishi was reportedly traveling at high speed and attempting to overtake the truck when the collision occurred. Driver fatigue was also cited as a contributing factor.
Of the eight people involved in the incident, four male adults died, one male adult sustained injuries, and three others were unharmed. The injured individual was transported to Victory Hospital in Ogere for medical treatment, while the deceased were taken to the FOS Mortuary in Ipara. The FRSC recorded a six-minute response time, arriving at the scene at 4:39 a.m.
