Lagos State begins 2027 budget consultations

The Lagos State Government has launched its 2027 budget consultative forum, beginning with an opening session in the Ikeja Division. Led by the Ministry of Economic Planning and Budget, the annual five-day consultation process will rotate through the state’s five IBILE divisions: Ikeja, Badagry, Ikorodu, Lagos Island, and Epe.

Commissioner for Economic Planning and Budget, Ope George, stated that the forum serves as a platform for inclusive governance, allowing residents, traditional rulers, civil society organizations, and various stakeholder groups to contribute to the state’s development priorities and fiscal planning. The engagement also allows the government to provide feedback on previous years' requests and report on implementation levels.

Regarding current fiscal performance, George reported that Lagos has maintained a minimum budget implementation rate of approximately 80 percent over the past few years. He noted that the state is currently recording a performance of roughly 79 to 80 percent for the 2026 fiscal year.
