Lagos State donates patrol vehicles to Nigerian Railway Corporation

The Lagos State Government, via the Lagos State Security Trust Fund (LSSTF), has donated two patrol vehicles to the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) to enhance security for passengers and railway infrastructure. The vehicles were presented at the Mobolaji Johnson Train Station in Yaba, Lagos.

The donation is intended to support the Nigeria Police Force and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) personnel assigned to the NRC. These assets are expected to improve the mobility of security teams, allowing for swifter responses to incidents and increased visibility along railway corridors to deter vandalism and crime.

Dr. Ayodele Ogunsan, Executive Secretary of the LSSTF, noted that the fund is prioritizing railway security to ensure the safety of stations and corridors. Each vehicle is valued at over N50 million, and a monitoring unit has been established to ensure they are used strictly for official patrol operations. Dr. Kayode Opeifa, Managing Director of the NRC, confirmed that the corporation will handle the fueling and maintenance of the vehicles.
