Lagos State University Vice-Chancellor unveils eight-point agenda

Professor Ayodeji Olawunmi Badejo, the newly appointed Vice-Chancellor of Lagos State University (LASU), has unveiled an eight-point strategic agenda to enhance the institution’s global competitiveness and local relevance. Badejo, who assumed office on September 21, 2026, is the 10th substantive Vice-Chancellor and the third female to hold the position following her appointment by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

The strategic pillars include academic excellence and quality assurance, research and innovation, financial sustainability, and infrastructure and digital transformation. The agenda specifically emphasizes the deployment of artificial intelligence and digital tools, with plans to establish at least one smart classroom in every faculty within the next year.

Additional focus areas involve staff welfare and industrial harmony, student mentorship and employability, governance and institutional integrity, and community engagement. To ensure financial sustainability, the administration intends to diversify revenue through grants, endowments, and strategic partnerships.
