Lahore's Kahna Tuition Centre Roof Collapse Kills 14 Children

A roof of a tuition centre in the Kahna neighbourhood of Lahore gave way when excess weight overloaded a weak structure, causing concrete and debris to fall on the children inside. Of the 35 children present, 14 aged between four and ten died and were buried in a local cemetery; six others were discharged after treatment, while one child and a female teacher were transferred to the Punjab Institute of Neurosciences for serious injuries.

Police detained five people, including the building owner, on charges of negligence, and a forensic investigation of the collapse is underway. The tragedy sparked widespread mourning across Lahore, with large numbers attending the funeral prayers.
