Lai Chau aims to boost tourism value via Resolution 26-NQ/TW

Lai Chau is working to transform its natural and cultural assets into a sustainable tourism economy following the implementation of Resolution 26-NQ/TW, which aims to establish tourism as a spearhead economic sector in Vietnam. The province is shifting its focus from mere volume growth to enhancing quality and creating value-added experiences to encourage longer stays and higher spending.

Between 2021 and 2025, the province welcomed over 5 million visitors, generating more than 3,800 billion VND in revenue. In the first seven months of 2026, visitor numbers were estimated to exceed 1.1 million, with revenue surpassing 1,007 billion VND. Local efforts are centered on leveraging landscapes like terraced fields and community-based tourism to move beyond simple sightseeing toward comprehensive travel experiences.
