Lake Balaton free beaches highlighted as top summer spots amid mixed reviews of Serbia's new Palić waterpark

Hungarian media presented a guide to the five best free beaches along Lake Balaton for the 2024 summer season. The list includes Siófok’s Ezüstpart with its shaded tree lanes and renewed snack bar, Balatonboglár’s Platán strand offering sports courts and a dedicated children’s sand area, the quiet Ligetes beach at Balatonőszöd, the well‑equipped Nyugati beach in Balatonföldvár, and Fonyód’s panoramic Árpád parti stretch. All locations feature clean water, modern toilet facilities and food services, making them appealing for families and budget‑conscious visitors.

In northern Serbia, the new Palić waterpark, opened two years ago and run by Elitte Palić Kft., attracted attention for its publicly funded construction. Visitors reported several shortcomings: limited pool depth, non‑operational slides, missing hairdryers, inadequate signage, and a lack of paved access paths. Entrance tickets cost 200 dinars for a sun‑bed, and the park imposes a ban on bringing external food and drink. While the water temperature and cleanliness meet expectations, many amenities remain unfinished or poorly maintained, prompting criticism on social media.
