Lake Como: Search underway for 21-year-old missing after boat dive

Search operations are underway for a 21-year-old man who disappeared after diving from a rental boat in Lake Como. The incident occurred near Lenno, in the Tremezzina area, on Friday afternoon, August 14.

The young man, identified as Rayan Jeirom Baylen, was vacationing with his girlfriend when he jumped into the water from the vessel. His partner, who remained on board, raised the alarm after he failed to resurface. She was rescued from the drifting boat by the Coast Guard and treated for shock by emergency medical services.

Rescue efforts are being complicated by the extreme depth of the lake at the site, where the bottom reaches approximately 290 to 300 meters. The operation is being coordinated by the Milan Coast Guard's Lake Operational Department and involves divers, helicopters, surface vessels from the Fire Department, and underwater robots.
