Lake Garda authorities conclude summer safety and enforcement operations

Authorities in the Lake Garda region have concluded their summer safety and enforcement operations, reporting significant activity in both maritime rescue and labor inspections.

The Coast Guard’s ‘Mare e Laghi Sicuri 2026’ campaign, which ran from June 15 to September 20 across Lake Garda, Lake Como, and Lake Maggiore, resulted in 244 search and rescue missions. On Lake Garda specifically, 309 people were assisted and 107 rescues were coordinated. Safety checks included 1,795 inspections of recreational vessels, leading to 389 administrative sanctions and the seizure of three boats.

Simultaneously, the Guardia di Finanza conducted intensive inspections across the Brescia province, including the Garda Riviera, to combat irregular labor and tax evasion. During the August-September period, officials carried out 86 interventions targeting the hospitality, tourism, and service sectors. These operations identified 63 undocumented workers employed without prior notification and 53 other labor violations.
