Lakki Marwat market bomb kills nine, injures dozens

A bomb concealed in a rickshaw exploded in the crowded Sarai Naurang market of Lakki Marwat district, north‑western Pakistan, as a police patrol van passed through. The blast killed at least nine people, including two police officers and a woman, and wounded around 30 others, many in critical condition.

No group immediately claimed responsibility, but authorities suspect the Tehrik‑e‑Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and have accused militants operating from Afghan territory. The attack follows a recent suicide bombing in Bannu that killed 15 police officers, heightening tensions between Pakistan and Afghanistan. Afghan Taliban spokespeople denied the accusations. Security forces have sealed off the market, set up checkpoints, and launched investigations to identify the bomb’s maker.
