Lalín hunting squads report 40 wild boars killed despite extreme heat

Despite extreme heat and drought conditions in Galicia, wild boar hunting continues in the Lalín region. In the first month of the season, six hunting squads in Lalín reported 40 animals killed, while squads in Rodeiro have approached 30.

The current weather poses risks to both hunters and dogs, leading to discussions about adjusting hunting schedules to avoid midday heat or shifting the season to spring. Local hunting officials noted that while wild boars were traditionally nocturnal, they are now frequently active during the day. The drought has also made tracking animals more difficult by eliminating scent trails.
