Lalu Prasad Yadav family court appearance deferred in IRCTC scam case

A Delhi court has adjourned the formal framing of money laundering charges against former Railway Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav, his wife Rabri Devi, and son Tejashwi Yadav until October 30. The proceedings in the Rouse Avenue Court involve the Lara Projects case, which is linked to an alleged IRCTC hotel tender scam.

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) alleges that between 2005 and 2014, tenders for IRCTC hotels in Ranchi and Puri were manipulated to benefit Sujata Hotels. In exchange, the directors of Sujata Hotels allegedly transferred land in Patna to Delight Marketing Company Pvt. Ltd. (later renamed Lara Projects) at undervalued rates. The ED claims shares of this company were subsequently transferred to Rabri Devi and Tejashwi Yadav at minimal costs.

During the hearing, Tejashwi Yadav alleged that the family is facing political targeting by central agencies such as the ED and CBI. Additionally, the court noted that it would seek confirmation from the ED regarding Lalu Prasad Yadav's request for exemption from future appearances due to his health condition.
