Lam Dong and Khanh Hoa face flooding and landslide risks

Heavy rainfall and flooding have caused significant disruption in Vietnam's Lam Dong and Khanh Hoa provinces. In Lam Dong, preliminary reports indicate that more than 1,890 houses have been flooded. Local authorities have implemented emergency measures, including the evacuation of 275 households, totaling 937 people, in Ham Thang ward due to rising water levels from the Song Quao reservoir and heavy rain.

Meteorological data shows soil moisture in parts of Lam Dong and Khanh Hoa has reached or exceeded 85% saturation. Forecasts warn of continued heavy rain, with cumulative rainfall expected to reach up to 70mm in some areas of Khanh Hoa and over 60mm in parts of Lam Dong. These conditions pose high risks of flash floods in small rivers and streams, as well as landslides on steep slopes.

Authorities have been instructed to install warning signs, set up barriers in dangerous areas, and maintain 24/7 rescue readiness. Local governments are also tasked with ensuring the supply of food, water, and essential supplies for displaced residents.
