Lam Dong declares natural disaster emergency on National Highway 28

The Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee has declared a natural disaster emergency on a section of National Highway 28 due to severe infrastructure damage. The emergency affects the stretch between Km136+800 and Km136+900 in Phuc Tho, Lam Ha commune, following prolonged heavy rainfall from August to October 2026.

Reports indicate significant landslips, road subsidence, and damage to auxiliary structures over a 100-meter area. The road surface has subsided by up to 30cm, with sinkholes appearing on the shoulders and cracks extending approximately 70 meters. Despite previous attempts to stabilize the area with aggregate and concrete, the situation remains unstable and poses a direct threat to commuters.

Authorities have implemented traffic diversion measures, installed warning signs, and deployed personnel to regulate vehicles. The Department of Construction and relevant project management units are working to assess the damage and prepare emergency repairs to ensure long-term safety and restore traffic flow.
