Lamborghini defends transition from V10 to V8 hybrid engine
Lamborghini has addressed criticism from enthusiasts regarding the transition from its naturally aspirated V10 engine to the twin-turbo V8 hybrid powertrain found in the new Temerario.
Paolo Racchetti, the Temerario product line director, stated that the company anticipated nostalgic reactions to the change, acknowledging that the V10 was a defining asset for previous models like the Huracán. However, the automaker maintains that the new V8 turbo hybrid is a strategic move toward downsizing and hybridization.
Racchetti noted that while the V10 was more melodic, the new engine features a flat-plane crankshaft designed to be sharper and more aggressive, particularly above 7,000 rpm. He emphasized that the engine's ability to reach 10,000 rpm offers unique performance characteristics not found in many other hypercars.
