Lamborghini postpones electric launch, says Urus will remain plug‑in hybrid

Lamborghini CEO Stephan Winkelmann announced that the Urus SUV will not be offered as a battery‑electric vehicle. The next‑generation Urus, expected around 2029, will retain its plug‑in hybrid V8 powertrain and will be built on the new PPC platform shared with Audi, Porsche, Bentley and other VW Group models.

At the same time, Lamborghini confirmed that its first fully electric model, the Lanzador, originally slated for 2028, will be shelved indefinitely and will instead launch as a plug‑in hybrid. The company said customer demand for pure electric supercars is currently too low, prompting a shift toward hybrid technology and greater emphasis on software‑controlled dynamics.
