Land Rover Defender electric Panterra conversion achieves 605 km WLTP range

Land Rover’s iconic Defender model continues to expand its appeal. The 130‑inch Defender 130 P500, equipped with a V8 engine, delivers 0‑100 km/h in 5.7 seconds, a top speed of 240 km/h and a payload capacity of three tonnes, positioning it as a versatile luxury off‑roader.

A Dutch firm, The Landrovers, has taken the Defender further by creating the Panterra, an electric restomod. The Panterra uses a 200 kWh battery pack, four independent electric motors producing a combined 600 hp, and claims a WLTP‑tested range of up to 605 km—exceeding several Tesla models. Despite a curb weight of about 2.9 tonnes, it accelerates from 0‑100 km/h in 5.5 seconds. The conversion features advanced torque‑vectoring, independent suspension, and a 50:50 weight distribution. Priced from €490,000, the Panterra targets a niche market seeking high‑performance electric off‑road capability while retaining the Defender’s classic character.
