Lando Norris signs long-term contract extension with McLaren
Formula 1 driver Lando Norris has committed his future to McLaren, signing a contract extension that keeps him with the Woking-based team until at least 2030. Despite considering other options, including potential interest from Ferrari, Norris stated that the stability, leadership, and environment at McLaren made the decision easy. He expressed a desire to spend his entire career with the team.
Under the new agreement, Norris is reportedly among the top three highest-paid drivers in the sport, with an estimated annual salary of approximately £30 million, trailing only Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton.
On the competitive front, Norris is currently mounting a challenge in the drivers' championship. Following recent victories in Hungary and the Netherlands, he has reduced his deficit to championship leader Kimi Antonelli to 83 points. However, analysts suggest that overcoming such a gap may be difficult, noting that the record for the largest championship deficit overturned is 46 points, held by Max Verstappen.
