Lando Norris McLaren contract and docuseries
Overview
Lando Norris, the 2025 Formula 1 World Champion, has signed a long-term contract extension with McLaren to remain with the team until at least the end of the 2030 season. The agreement, announced at the team’s Woking headquarters, includes multi-year options for further extension. The deal is reportedly worth $40 million annually and follows a period of success for McLaren, including two consecutive Constructors' titles in 2025.
In conjunction with his career milestones, it was announced that Prime Video will produce a three-part docuseries titled ‘Lando’, scheduled for release in 2027. Produced by Box to Box Films, the series is intended to provide an intimate look at Norris’s life and career trajectory. Regarding his commitment, Norris expressed a desire to spend his entire career at McLaren, stating he feels ‘at home’ there and has remained loyal through the team’s difficult years. He noted that while championship success has changed his perspective outside of the car, it has not altered his competitive drive. Despite considering other options, including potential interest from Ferrari, Norris stated that the stability, leadership, and environment at McLaren made the decision easy. Financial reports suggest the new deal makes him the third-highest paid driver on the grid, with an estimated annual salary of approximately £30 million, trailing only Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton.
As the 2026 season progresses, Norris enters the Italian Grand Prix at Monza with momentum following consecutive victories in Hungary and the Netherlands. However, he remains 83 points behind championship leader Kimi Antonelli. Analysts have noted that overcoming this gap may be difficult, as the record for the largest championship deficit overturned is 46 points.
