LSU faces SEC expulsion threat following dominant win over Clemson

LSU football coach Lane Kiffin led the Tigers to a dominant 51-10 victory over Clemson in the Week 1 season opener. Despite the on-field success, the program is facing significant legal and regulatory scrutiny.

The Southeastern Conference (SEC) has filed an amended lawsuit against LSU, seeking the authority to remove the university from the conference. The SEC is citing LSU’s attempts to use former NFL players, specifically Dae’Quan Wright and Zxavian Harris, in violation of a rule prohibiting players with NFL experience from returning to the conference. The SEC has even used Kiffin’s halftime comments regarding “pro players” as evidence in the legal proceedings.

In response to the threat of expulsion, LSU appears to be backing away from its plan to roster the former NFL signees. The university has instead added two other players to its roster, effectively moving forward without Wright or Harris. Meanwhile, a leaked video allegedly capturing a halftime speech by Kiffin has circulated on social media, further fueling the “villain” narrative surrounding his tenure.
