Langley shooting victim may have received police warning
A 23-year-old man was killed in a shooting on October 5 in a parking lot near a Cactus Club restaurant in Langley, British Columbia. The victim, who was known to be gang-affiliated and had a criminal history involving drugs and weapons, died at the scene despite life-saving efforts. Stray bullets from the incident struck several vehicles and the restaurant building.
Reports suggest the victim may have been issued a ‘duty to warn’ (DTW) notification regarding threats to his life several months prior. The Vancouver Police Department has declined to confirm or deny whether such a warning was provided.
Following the shooting, RCMP responded to a vehicle fire nearby, recovering a burned sedan believed to have been used in the attack. The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) is currently investigating the incident and is seeking witnesses or dashcam footage from the area between 8:30 p.m. and 10:30 p.m.
