Langley targeted homicide investigation
Overview
On October 5, 2026, 23-year-old Jeevan Johal was shot and killed in a targeted attack outside a business complex in Langley, British Columbia. The victim died at the scene near the Cactus Club in the 6000-block of 200 Street. Stray bullets from the incident struck the restaurant building and several vehicles.
Johal was reportedly known to be gang-affiliated with a criminal history involving weapons and drugs. Investigations have revealed that the victim may have been issued a ‘duty to warn’ (DTW) notification regarding threats to his life several months before the shooting. The Vancouver Police Department has declined to confirm or deny if such a warning was provided.
Following the homicide, police responded to a vehicle fire near 75 Avenue and 232 Street. Investigators from the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) believe a burnt sedan recovered from the arson scene was used in the shooting and was intentionally set on fire to destroy evidence. IHIT continues to seek witnesses or dashcam footage from the area recorded between 8:30 p.m. and 10:30 p.m.
