Lao Cai and Gia Lai provinces face flash flood and landslide warnings

Authorities in Vietnam have issued warnings for flash floods and landslides in Lao Cai and Gia Lai provinces due to heavy rainfall.

In Lao Cai, meteorology reports indicate significant rainfall, with some areas recording over 60mm. Soil moisture levels in certain parts of the province have exceeded 70%. Officials have warned of potential flash floods on small rivers and streams, as well as landslides on steep hillsides and along transport routes. At least 21 communes and wards are under alert.

In Gia Lai, heavy rain has led to soil moisture levels reaching or exceeding 85% saturation. Warnings have been issued for flash floods and landslides, particularly in communes such as Ia Dreh, Ia RSai, Ia Tul, Phu My Dong, Phu My Tay, Phu Tuc, and Uar. These events pose risks to lives, local infrastructure, and economic activities.
