Lao Cai authorities dismantle illegal poultry egg smuggling ring

Border guard forces and customs officials at the Lao Cai International Border Gate have dismantled an organized smuggling ring responsible for transporting tons of illegal food products from China into Vietnam daily.

On October 25, authorities caught Nguyễn Quang Lư and Trần Đức Tiến transporting 60 kg of illegal young chicken eggs at the Lao Cai international entry point. The eggs, originating from China, were found to be leaking, emitting odors, and lacked any legal documentation or customs declarations.

A simultaneous raid on a storage warehouse on Triệu Quang Phục Street uncovered an additional 641 kg of illegal young chicken eggs under the supervision of Vàng Văn Tuấn.

Suspects admitted that they were hired by traffickers to cross into China, break goods into smaller portions, and disguise them in backpacks and personal items to smuggle them through the border. Participants reportedly received approximately 17,000 VND per kilogram for their involvement.
