Lao Cai to hold memorial and reburial for 60 martyr remains
Lao Cai province is preparing for a formal ceremony to honor and rebury 60 sets of martyr remains. The memorial service will take place at the Martyrs Memorial in Cam Duong Ward, followed by burials at the Cam Duong Martyrs Cemetery and the Bao Thang Martyrs Cemetery.
To facilitate this, hundreds of armed forces personnel have been conducting intensive training to ensure the solemnity and security of the event. Local military and police forces are coordinating to manage the procession and maintain safety during the proceedings.
This initiative is part of a broader “500-day campaign to accelerate the search, collection, and identification of martyr remains.” During the first phase of this campaign, the province successfully collected 22 sets of remains and collected 1,250 biological samples for DNA testing, including 820 samples meeting forensic requirements. The second phase aims to intensify search efforts in core areas and continue sample collection to meet the campaign's objectives.
