Lao Chai village emerges as community tourism hub in Lai Chau
Lao Chai, located in Lai Chau province, is emerging as a prominent destination for community-based tourism in Northwest Vietnam. Situated at an altitude of approximately 1,200 meters, the village offers a cool climate, majestic mountain landscapes, and unique cultural heritage preserved by the Hmong ethnic group.
The area is characterized by terraced rice fields, lush tea gardens, and diverse flora including ancient rose gardens, orchids, and pear blossoms. Local residents have actively participated in developing tourism by maintaining clean cobblestone paths, decorating traditional wooden houses with natural materials, and establishing homestay services.
Visitors can experience local daily life and enjoy scenic views, particularly during the rice ripening season from September to October or the water pouring season from May to June. The integration of natural scenery with indigenous cultural spaces has made Lao Chai a significant model for community tourism development in the region.
