L'Aquila prepares for major cultural and agricultural events in 2026
L'Aquila, designated as the Italian Capital of Culture for 2026, is preparing for several major international and regional events.
In October 2026, the city will host the Villaggio Coldiretti. This three-day event in Piazza Duomo will focus on Abruzzese agriculture, food quality, and rural traditions. The initiative aims to promote regional agri-food chains and discuss sector challenges such as climate change and rising energy costs.
Additionally, the city is hosting the 78th edition of the Prix Italia, an international competition organized by RAI for radio, television, and multimedia production. For the first time, the festival will take place entirely within the city's historic center, bringing together global media professionals to discuss the future of digital and traditional broadcasting.
