L'Aquila receives 350 proposals for new Municipal Urban Plan

The Municipality of L'Aquila has concluded the public consultation phase for its new Municipal Urban Plan (Piano Urbanistico Comunale), receiving over 350 expressions of interest from citizens, professionals, economic operators, and associations.

The proposals submitted focus on three main areas: identifying new areas outside the existing urbanized perimeter, implementing regeneration and redevelopment projects within the current perimeter, and requesting the conversion of certain buildable areas into non-buildable zones, such as green spaces or agricultural land.

Urban Planning Councilor Francesco De Santis stated that the administration aims to evaluate these contributions based on the preliminary vision for the city. Key guiding principles include limiting land consumption, regenerating existing urban areas, and improving urban quality, while maintaining strict adherence to environmental safety standards regarding flood and fire risks.
