Peace and reconciliation initiatives organized across various Italian cities
Various regional initiatives across Italy are focusing on themes of peace, diplomacy, and reconciliation throughout October 2026.
In L’Aquila, biologist and author Daniel Lumera will host the 11th International Day of Forgiveness on October 10. The event, titled ‘Forgiveness nourishes the world’, features international testimonies, workshops, and dialogues aimed at personal and collective healing.
In Perugia, the National Assembly of Cities for Peace will convene on October 9 and 10 to mark the 40th anniversary of the National Coordination of Local Authorities for Peace and Human Rights. The assembly will bring together mayors and institutional representatives to discuss the role of local governments in promoting peace and human rights amid global tensions.
Other regional activities include the Summer Peace University in Belvedere Marittimo, which uses a ‘Learning by Living’ method to train young leaders in diplomacy, and a peace-focused forum in Cosenza addressing the future of new generations in a conflict-prone world. Additionally, Molfetta will host the ‘Festa delle Aggregazioni Laicali’ on October 11, featuring workshops and book presentations centered on the theme of peace.
