Lara State inaugurates Orinoco crocodile reproduction center
Authorities in Lara State, Venezuela, have inaugurated the National Center for the Reproduction and Captive Breeding of the Orinoco Crocodile at Bararida Park. The initiative aims to support the conservation of this threatened species.
Officials plan to care for 50 specimens at the Zoological and Botanical Park Bararida for approximately one year before releasing them into their natural habitat in coordination with the Ministry of People's Power for Ecosocialism.
Additionally, the park has introduced two hyenas following an exchange agreement with the Caricuao Zoo. Officials also noted ongoing monitoring of the Andean bear, with over 40 individuals recorded via camera traps in the region's national parks.
