Firefighters capture 4.5 meter anaconda in Caldas Novas

Firefighters from the Military Fire Brigade of Goiás (CBMGO) captured a yellow anaconda, approximately 4.5 meters long, in the Lagoa Quente sector of Caldas Novas, Brazil. The reptile was located in a stream near a residence after it had captured a domestic animal and was preparing to feed.

The operation was prompted by resident concerns regarding the presence of the large predator near homes, particularly in an area where children and other pets frequently circulate. Following a safe capture that preserved the integrity of both the residents and the animal, the snake was transported to the Center for Triage and Rehabilitation of Wild Animals (CETRAS) for care.

Biologist Edson Abrao noted that the yellow anaconda (Eunectes notaeus) is a non-venomous constrictor that uses physical strength to kill prey. He added that the presence of such a large specimen indicates a healthy ecological balance in the region.
